    I'm looking to do exactly the same thing, from the same reasons interfacing with an Android phone Thanks!     This will allow you to take advantage of the esp's WIFI direct feature, aka p2p feature. A client esp connects to a server esp with no access.The datasheets mentions that the esp supports wifi direct but there is no documentation about how to implement.

    wifi-direct can only make connections to the access point. A device can only connect to one access point at time. Anyway you can have an arduino to provide.Find centralized, trusted content and collaborate around the technologies you use most.

    It's Wi-Fi but it behaves more lika a bluetooth connection. The spec sheet for mentions support for Wi-Fi Direct.I was hoping it may be possible for an Android Tablet to communicate directly with the Arduino via WiFi.

    Atmel website says that the chip WINC supports WiFi-Direct. The WiFi software library that comes with Arduino IDE has no API that.As I said before, Internet searches have proven useless without a way to narrow the topic down.

    I probably would be better off to pretend I don't have a Uno Wifi, and just find a good Ad-Hoc tutorial, and buy what they have, so I can follow them closely.
